Prelude To Axanar, the independent Star Trek short film is 100% grade A KICK ASS.
Written and produced by Alec Peters and Christian Gossett, the film is set 21 years before the first episode of the original Star Trek television series, "Where No Man Has Gone Before."
Prelude To Axanar is part of the saga that tells the story of Garth of Izar, the legendary starfleet captain Kirk regarded as his personal hero.
Captain Garth was the war hero of the "The Four Years War" - the first devastating conflict between The United Federation Of Planets and The Klingon Empire.
In fact, without the genius battle tactics of Captain Garth, the then fledging Federation would have been torn apart during this epic war with the Klingons.
Without further ado, here is the complete short film Prelude To Axanar ...
This film blew me away.
Every aspect of this motion picture, including the gripping story, impressive cast, and blockbuster-quality visual effects, is the epitome of exceptional filmmaking.
The production is now at work on the full-length sequel Star Trek: Axanar, which is currently in pre-production with an expected release date sometime in mid-2015.
The production value of the Axanar projects is so high, it has attracted acting talent that would put most studio productions to shame, including:
Last, but definitely not least, Tony Todd - the renowned actor best known for The Candyman films, as well as countless other starring roles on the stage and screen - is part of this unbelievable cast!
Mr. Todd is portraying Admiral Ramirez, the chief commanding officer of starfleet command.
All the credit for putting together this sensational project goes to executive producers Alec Peters (who also stars as Garth of Izar) and Christian Gossett.
Their motivation behind creating the Axanar films is, like us, they are diehard fans of Gene Roddenberry's original vision for Star Trek.
While Prelude To Axanar and Star Trek: Axanar together is a war story, as Mr. Peters has stated, it is a war story set in the original Star Trek universe.
The films reveal how the war with the Klingon Empire helped to galvanize the Federation into what it became during the time of Captain Kirk.
However, while Prelude To Axanar looks like a blockbuster production, it is still an independent endeavor - although one produced by an acclaimed team of brilliant Hollywood professionals. They just also happen to be hardcore Star Trek fans as well.
The ultimate goal of the Axanar films is to be the production's calling card to Hollywood. It has been nine years since the last Star Trek series left the airwaves.
Prelude To Axanar is proof-positive Mr. Peters and his team have the passion, skills, experience, and talent to pull off returning Star Trek to television - if given the opportunity by Paramount.
