THE WATER PHOENIX is a stunning fantasy short film about a mermaid who is captured, betrayed, and then escapes back to her home under the sea.

The short film is remarkable for many reasons, but chief among them is it centers a Black woman, Nigerian-American filmmaker Bola Ogun - who also wrote and directed the short.

With its gorgeous underwater cinematography, an important message of empowerment, and mesmerizing lead protagonist, THE WATER PHOENIX is already making waves, garnering critical accolades by the score.
