This episode features our conversation with Aleem Hossain, writer, and director of the sci-fi feature film After We Leave. Aleem discusses his powerful debut feature film which is gaining a lot of attention.

The film is set in a near-future in which the earth has succumbed to the effects of climate change, natural resource depletion, economic instability, and a host of other societal ills.

However, humanity has a precious lifeline in that other habitable worlds have been discovered and interstellar travel is now possible. Determined by a lottery, a portion of the earth’s population is given a second chance to start over on a new world.

Against this dire backdrop, we meet Jack Chaney, a man with a dark past who returns to the life he walked out on, searching for the wife he abandoned years ago so they can embark on a new life together off-world. But, Jack must first contend with his checkered past and face a reckoning that could jeopardize his chance for a new beginning.
