Adventures Of The League Of S.T.E.A.M. - A Supernatural Steampunk Web Series

September 06, 2014 by Rod T. Faulkner in Steampunk

The League of S.T.E.A.M. (Supernatural And Troublesome Ectoplasmic Apparition Management) is a steampunk adventure web series produced by the popular Los Angeles performance group of the same name.

In a word, The League Of S.T.E.A.M. is pure, unabashed F.U.N.!

The series, set in the 19th century, focuses on a band of inventors and adventurers who investigate the supernatural.

It's a mix of sci-fi and comedy similar in tone to the classic film Ghostbusters.

Now in its third season, each episode is a stylish vignette focusing on the league's various otherworldy misadventures, such as exorcising mischievous ghosts, and capturing elusive cryptozoological creatures.

What puts the web series in a "ahem" league of its own, is its outstanding production design.

The League Of S.T.E.A.M. performance troupe boasts among its members talented craftsmen, artists, costume designers, and inventors who are all passionate fans of the steampunk aesthetic.

Their production design reflects this passion, as the sets, costumes, and props are GORGEOUS - as well as meticulously detailed.

In fact, you will be often tempted to pause various scenes in order to take it all in.

The web series also revels in zany slapstick comedy, with sly references to pop culture icons such as Doctor Who (hint: look for the garden gnome episode!) thrown in.

Be watchful for geektastic guest cameos by one of the Mythbusters team and a cast member of Felicia Day's much lamented The Guild web series!

Check out this whimsical "commercial" featuring the league ...
